NIB Sachs M5 clutch kit (e34/e28/uuc)

    SOLD!!

Perhaps a bit off the e30 mark, but there are plenty of people here running the 24v swap that its relevant...

    p/n 21 21 2 226 428

I bought this for my s50 swap car with the intentions of getting the UUC flywheel, but it never happened.

Is this for a single mass flywheel? All m5's were single right?

          Thanks

Sorry, here comes a bit of venting...
I bought the UUC stage two kit for my euro S50 swap. Put about 300km of normal driving on it, then 5 laps on the Nurburgring Grand Prix track. This was the first time on track on a foggy day (the nordschliefe was closed still due to fog) with the new S50 replacing the old M20, First time driving on Kuhmo XS's, and the first time ever driving with fully manual brakes. I was MUCH more concerned with learning the braking threshold and messing with the brake bias than post a blazing lap time. I was shifting from 3rd to 4th and the clutch exploded.

After pulling the transmission and having pieces of the clutch fall to the floor, I called Rob to see why a clutch would grenade after such a short time. After a few emails back and fourth, Rob concluded that the straps on the pressure plate had bent slightly from negative loading (a shift from 4th to 3rd, etc.) causing uneven pressure on the clutch and the eventual failure. He said he would do a good faith replacement on the clutch and to send it back so he could warranty it with the manufacture.
I shipped the Clutch and pressure plate back in January a few weeks before I PCS'd from germany (moved from Germany to Texas) via USPS on my own dime. I asked twice for a return authorization number, but without a response from Rob, and moving my entire household/family to another continent, I decided to send it anyways.

After arriving in Texas, I emailed Rob with an updated shipping address, but got no response. After finishing my training in Texas, I moved again to Colorado Springs, and updated Rob again with my new shipping address. A few months later I saw the flywheel in a box, and was reminded that I still did not have a clutch. So once again I emailed Rob, but this time I got a response! After a few replies, he informs me that his shipping department has no record of receiving the clutch back, so in turn he cannot warranty it through the manufacturer.

Now, while I was stationed in Germany, I'd guess that I shipped/received over 500 packages through the post office in 5 years time, and NEVER ONCE did I have the post office loose a package. Recently I bought a set of style 5 bolts, and only received the box wrapped in a plastic bag that said, "sorry, we do our best." This is the first instance I've had of having something go wrong with the post office.

So with all that said, I no longer support that company, and will probably buy the much more expensive kit that bimmerworld sells and start new.

Here is the flywheel... sorry for the rant:hitler:

^wow dude that is quite a yarn concerning rob/uuc. I'm not very much a fan of him either. I had one of the first generations of LTW flywheels that they made for the 24v motors that i bought under the guise that it could be run with the stock clutch kit.

This turned out to be false (I learned this by shearing the splines off of two clutch disks) and I gave them a call. Turns out it takes at clutch kit that they make in house (allegedly) and was available for a nominal fee ~800 bucks. Fuck that.

              Anyways, thanks for sharing.

              ps clutch kit sold!
