Price: MAKE AN OFFER. If given some time, I can arrange freight.

    History:
I bought the car from the original owner in December 2010. The original owner was a USAF fighter pilot and the car came with stacks of records. I picked up where he left off and have put on around 20,000. Upon receiving the car, I did all the maintenance I though necessary to keep an M42 healthy and then a few silly things. The A/C was not charged, nor did I ever attempt to charge it. The engine was pulled to swap an OBDI M52.

It has been an extremely healthy motor and does not act it's age. Never had any issues. (See videos)

    Bullet points:
    -Deleted mess under the intake.
-Resealed intake with OEM gaskets and Red RTV
    -New OEM intake boot
    -Replaced ICV with newer ICV.
    -Changed/flushed all fluids
    -Ran Amsoil 0w40
    -New Continental belts
    -Timing chain tensioner
    -New VR valve cover gaskets
-Replaced lower pan and applied red loctite oil pump bolts
    -Rolled Cam forward <3deg
-Installed eBay Chip (Noticeable gains. OEM chip included)
-Clutch does not slip, but I have not measured the friction material thickness.

    Bad:
-The existing cam gears are sharp and should be replaced.
-Profile gasket leaks. (Typical M42 weakness).
-The block is dirty from profile gasket.
-Still leaks oil (Like a dumbass. I used red RTV on lower pan).
-Not really bad, but rolling cam forward causes lumpy idle.

Factory single 2.25". The original muffler failed and replaced by an Autozone Thrush Turbo/Muffler #17714. I would do it again; no rasp, very little drone and quiet enough to play with the revs without gaining attention.

Note: The exhaust is not included as it will be used with the M52.

Regretting pulling this as the M52 is being a giant pain in the ass.

Shoot me some offers. This motor is worth it.

M52's are not a pain in the butt! 24V swaps can be done by monkeys with their eyes closed!

                          GLWS :)

I did my research, but there is certainly mis-information on certain aspects of the swap. I suspect its from people making assumptions and other people being hacks. I got lucky and had the necessary pieces lying around, but its frustrating once you're under the car. No doubt the next swap would take less than a weekend.

The clutch slipping on first drive was what got me.

Someone buy this before I make it into a coffee table.

Bump. Someone make me an offer.

I'm looking at $80 in scrap for a good running M42.
