Sounds fishy to me if it hooks up to the battery....?? anyone had any experience with these?

So long as the diode tree in your alternator is functioning properly that device will do absolutely nothing. Alternators generate AC current, which needs to be cliped by the diodes into filtered DC.

For what its worth... it takes 0.3 volts of AC current in a e36 M50 car to cause borderline undrivable conditions.

I am sorry...but this is BS. A car battery in good shape is the best DC supply voltage you can get, a huge capacitor. Please don't waste money on this.
