Feeler: 127k mile, auto, Vanos, M50

I am putting an M50 in for a friend of mine and the motor that is in his car now is gonna be mine. This is a feeler now because I dont have the motor out of the car yet so I can't say exactly whats wrong with it. The motor isnt running at the moment. It has a head gasket problem or a warped head. Its a very clean motor, came from a 1993 325is. Car was an automatic with low milage, only 127k miles. Is anyone intrested in a good motor for a project. If the head gasket is screwed I wont be looking to get a whole lot for it. I will also consider parting this motor out.

I have a question that would help me out a good deal. If in fact the head is warped can it be shaved back to working condition?

If your intrested mention it here and in the next few days we should have the motor pulled and I can tell you exactly whats wrong with it. Thanks guys.

Sorry... I am in NC. In the Winston-Salem area. I would let the motor go as is for $600.00, if there are no major problems I will ask a little more.

Matt... to tell you the truth I would probobly let it go for 600.00 regardless, I wouldnt raise the price. Maybe the cost of getting the head shaved. I am about 3 mins away from the machine shop that BMW uses for there work (out here in Mocksville). It has all the accessories. Not positive if there is an AC on there or not, but it has intake and exhaust manifolds, throttle body, wiring harness, top covers, oil pan, everything. Your local so you could come look at it. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

you can get a m50 that runs w/out probs for 500 so 600 is pretty steep for one that does not run unless its turboed or somethin'

ummm really?? most m50s with a decent mileage ive found them around $1000-$1500

yep...and w/ all the extra stuff like someone said it is about 1000 at the most BUT the engine only is a bout 500 for a low milage running one.

Well damn, where are you finding these motors for this price? My friend just payed 1000.00 to have one shipped to him and it has high milage.
