It takes place of your stock oil pressure switch.
It has a 1/8 NPT inlet(most common for senders) where you can attach a gauge sender to accommodate an oil related gauge.
It's also commonly used for turbo feed lines.
The piece also retains the stock oil pressure switch on the end.

TRM sells these for $30 plus shipping.
