The benefit of the no hole is that it is a little stronger since the hole is normally right in the bend. The drawback is that you would have to remove the skid plate every time you changed the oil. Removal isn't all that difficult though, especially with the backing plate with the welded nuts. But it is one more thing you have to do.
I'm doing a small run, just let me know if you're interested.
