Anyone Need a Free Good Used Timing Belt Kit?

i did my timing belt, tensioner, and water pump.
the old belt had 25,000 miles on it and is 4 years old.
it looks likes its in great shape.
the tensioner may be original and makes a slight noise when you spin by hand. the car has 63k on it.
there maybe someone out there who is broke and this might help.
so if thats you, let me know. its free.

Not trying to thread crap...it is free...but imo id just throw it out,why risk your motor for the cost of a timing belt kit? If the belt snaps youll probably have some piss poor teenager bitching. Also belt change interval is 60k or 4 years.

Come on, do we need comment like this? World would be a better place if we have more people like him.

          Seriously?!

If you can't afford the $12 timing belt you could buy at Autozone, how about you not spend that money at McDonald's?

Seriously OP, just throw it away. I understand your idea, but in theory, you are causing someone a potentially hazardous outcome.

                its for real.
i agree that a new belt and/or tensioer is the way to go.
its just that sometimes cash is super tight.
like i had replaced my clutch fan. it was worn but did work somewhat.
i keep it. then a young guy i know locally, who is barely making ends meet, had an issue with his e30. his clutch fan was totally shot. and he didnt have the cash for a new one. so my used one worked great. he was able to get his temps under control and pass emissions. i drove to his apartment, changed it out, did a couple of other things for him and wouldnt even take his few dollars for gas. its not that im a great guy, cause im really a dig dick headed douche bag, its just that ive been in those dire straits and know how bad it feels and how just a little help feels like a bug deal.
kinda my thinking why i have an extra set of lollypops that i made a post for a while ago. i figured it would be easy for someone to take mine and get the bushings pressed in. then when they take the car apart they dont have to go to the machine shop because they have a set ready to go.
i dont mind any of the comments. i count on this site to help keep me laughing and that helps keep the pistol out of my mouth.
im not rich but luckily right now im not totally broke either. but i know there are people out there who are. thats all.
and i figure you cant go wrong by doing the right thing.
if noone every needs it, cool. ill still hoard it.
                are the used rubbers ribbed?

I agree with your motto. I've done the same plenty of times. But never on a item as important as a timing belt. If I give someone a used blower motor or cracked lights that they need to get by... Something like that, if those items break nbd. But you give someone a used timing belt they could start there motor and it breaks right on the spot causing much more damage and costing much more then if they just bought a new belt and tensioner.

A new kit is literally like 30-40$ with tensioner. Inexpensive kit is like 25$ and if your real desperate a new belt is only 6-10$

^^^^ i hear what youre saying and agree with most of it.
the belt is in really good shape and has no dry rot or cracks and its a oem belt. plus theres the tensioner, spring and guide pin. it wont break for quite a while so the start up and explode thinking isnt accurate. ive been bouncing off the rev limiter with it for a few months,
when you have zero dollars even 40 is alot.

better to save the money for a new belt than to have a used belt break and need a new head. We did a belt for a customers e30, he came back 10k later with a blown head gasket... We still replaced the belt again. It is just not worth the risk.

I understand you are just trying to help our someone in need, but putting a used timing belt on an engine is just asking for trouble. Hell you aren't even supposed to reuse a belt after it has been tensioned let alone run for a few thousand miles.

guy has got a good intention and give him props for that but a timing belt is not something you want to reuse even if i was on only for a day or so.

wrt the timing belt ....live and learn.
i am waiting to here back on those used rubbers though.
i normally wear two of them all day long then when the time is right i take one off i feel like a wild man. then when i stick the spike in my arm i'm safe from all those nasties.
                              brilliant, i know.
