SMILEY'S NEED WORK. They have broken retainers which cost .38 each and the adjusters could stand to be replaced OR you could fix them with a tap&die set and some wd40.

I have a set of u.s. ellips. Would the parts from these ellips be able to replace the broken parts from the smileys?

I have been asked this a few times and to be honest I can not answer that question. I have never seen a set of US elips from the back so I don't know what is involved in their construction. If I were to go out on a limb I would say yes, the parts would be interchangeable with the difference in lights being wiring, connectors and lenses. But that would just be me making assumptions.

The Euros and the US Ellipsoids are basically built the same.
Base-same
adjusters-same
size-same
can mix and match- doesnt make a difference-

Plug wires- well if you have the US ellipsoids and going to Euro, the US plugs will fit too(and they are better-not brittle like Euro plugs) You just got to adjust it from the female end.

Difference: US ellipsoids are made most or all of plastic and will only hold a 9005.9006 bulb, the Euros have a metal bullb backing or is mostly metal. Euros can be converted to HID with little work and the US ellips- no
