Hi.
price is 500 or best offer.
i am into partial parts/cash/wheels trading so dont be afraid to challenge an odd scenario.
this is the only picture i have of it until i can fix my camera.
Story:
Bought it down in new jersey from a guy with super super clean 1988 325i automatic convertible that had been purchased from an elder woman. car had 73,000 original miles. He was swapping in a mint s52, and manual transmission, so i wanted the engine. Drove 4.5 hours from Mass to Jersey in an isuzu trooper. Paid 550$ and brought it home, and gave it a quick rinse. Absolutely nothing was wrong with it. i was very stoked needless to say.
compression was tested on all 6 cylinders at time of purchase. and were as follows
1: 151
2: 149
3: 147
4: 149
5: 148
6: 147
no oil was leaking, plugs were mint, this was simply pressure washed to remove dirt/dust and dropped right in with little to worry about. it was put into my daily driver that had no engine mods other than a k+n panel filter, 2.25 exhaust and lightweight flywheel and spec clutch. new pilot bearing was installed at the time of clutch.
i must have driven it an accumulated total of 9 months. the car had alot of down-time for other projects i was concerning myself with at the time. simple commuter back and forth to work. assume 20 miles per day of driving.
oil was changed every 4,000 miles with mobile1 15w50 and a mobile filter. car was involved in a front end collision that broke only the oil cooler, and forced me to repair a crack in the oil pan. nothing of concern to the beautiful engine.
as i lost interest in the rusty car it was in, i never could come to terms with parting with such a beautiful engine, but now it must go, before it sits too long and becomes trash by sitting.
i am very willing to ship, ive shipped and had engines shipped to me before, so i know carriers, and could get quotes, but you must agree to pay for shipping arrangements. i shipped an IX engine from florida to mass most recently for under 300$ and the truck supplied a tailgate, NOT BAD!
any questions or concerns, feel free to text me at 774-289-2071
I'm very interested, but have a few questions.
1. Do you think that compression is still the same?
2. Was the oil cooler fixed?
3. What was the damage to the oil pan and how was it fixed?
4. Any leaks or other issues?
5. Think it can be dropped right in to a 89 325i?
Thanks. -
1: i have no means of testing compression numbers again at the moment, but i assume they would be up there still.Hi.

2: the oil cooler was removed, as the damage was done in the winter, i had no need for it at the time.
3: the oil pan would likely be better off being replaced, it was removed and repaired with "belzona" metal.
4: no leaks
5: in the case of swapping engines, id always reccomend a look over essential items while an engine is removed, of course you could "drop it right in" but why not take the time to make sure everythings 100% before doing so?Comment

Can an oil cooler be added again? Any damage to the engine or just the pan?1: i have no means of testing compression numbers again at the moment, but i assume they would be up there still.

Yeah, was going to do timing belt, seals, etc. Just didn't want to have to get into a rebuild.
thanks.Comment

oil cooler can certainly be added again, i just dont have one anymore. ive sold all mine. they arent 100% necessary anyway unless you live in arizona or something.
no damage to engine at all, damages to pan were unrelated to front end damages, was cracked a small bit in the lower pump bellow portion from a pothole.Comment
