I just checked on realoem, e36 sedan rear bearing has same dimensions as E30, but different part number for some reason

Yes, also Z4 rear bearing and E90 rear bearing. But keep in mind E30 had two different rear bearings, small and big. And you cannot tell till you take the measurements.

But why would part numbers be different?

I have 5-lug adapters for rear, but if regular e36 rear bearings would work, i would sellmy adapters.
I still have to overhaul my rear suspension, my might as well change hubs, which cost all together $100

You would face different caliper mounting points that way. Part nuber is different since its a different part :)
