Feeler: Bluetooth Car Phone Conversion Service

Some of you have seen the phones which I have converted and offered for sale here. Basically, I modify the handset so that it uses a bluetooth module for the speaker and mic, while keeping the keypad and speakerphone tied to the analog module so that it still lights up and makes noises when you dial, no service tone, etc. In order to do this, you do occasionally have to charge the bluetooth module. Integrating it into the analog board is a rather large problem.

I would like to offer this as a service to the community. You would send me your phone and then I would install the bluetooth internals. In a relatively short amount of time, you could regain all of the status that comes with talking on a car phone (after all, only important people have a phone mounted in their console).

For reference, here are some of the others that I have converted (one is still available if anyone is interested)

    e38 Unit - SOLD

Aftermarket unit (Phone is motorola, carrier was GTE) - Still available. PM me if interested

My question is this - is there any interest, and what is r3v willing to pay?

As for legality, it all depends on your state's laws. Here in TN, it is perfectly legal. However, in states such as CA, it is illegal. Personally, I don't see the problem with having a conversation while going down an expressway. If you need to concentrate on driving, just hang up, It's that easy.
