I dont think all e30s are pre-wired for the maplight mirror. The e30s that I have owned that were unequipped from the factory required the wiring harness for it which connects behind the driver side front speaker (this connector is in all e30s that I have owned, including cars unequipped with the mirror from the factory). The wiring harness runs up through the A-pillar, behind the upper trim panel, and eventually behind the mirror. You can always steal power from another source also to power it.
