        I don't see how hitting a wheel on anything would damage the diff.

        When my 89is got T-Boned i slid sideways into a curb and the right rear wheel slammed a curb hard enough to almost flip the car. The impact cracked the wheel, bent the trailing arm, and broke both CV joints on the right axle - yet the diff was perfectly fine.

          Weird. My second e30 I bought from a kid who was 'drifting' around his neighborhood and slid into a curb. The car looked like it just needed an alignment, everything eas straight until I cracked open the diff to find the geared mashed together. Mind you, I saw the video, he was doing under 30mph.
