Do you mean the grommet in your car is cracked? This part I'm selling is called the "antenna base". If you are talking about the grommet you will need to buy the E36 318ti grommet.

Correct with one minor detail. The wire you see in picture with no connector at the end...I cut it because the original connector will not work with the E30 grounding bolt, bolt is too big for it so you will also need to crimp a connector which has a big enough hole to be able to use the E30 grounding bolt. I'll take a pic of mine and post it up.

The E30 power and antenna cable plug right in with no mods, just the ground wire needs a new connector.

As you can see the wiring from the E30 plugs right in besides the ground which I've put a different connector on so the ground bolt would fit through it. I've ordered a stubby antenna but in the meantime I just took the 318ti antenna and cut the metal part right were it net the rubber.

Hope the pics help, I'm horrible with descriptions.
