I did a test on BavAuto's site, and it will work at least for E30, E28, and E36. I would assume E46 and E90 as well, since they use the same size rear bearings.
I wish I knew they had a tool for it before I did the rear bearings in my buddies car. Although it didn't take long I'm sure it would have taken less with the tool. Got a pic of this tool?
