He is firm at 1000. Seems exchange rate is affecting that decision too. I am not sure if that would sell.Comment

1000$ or best offer buddy, like I said in the beginning, it is rare over here and in the US haven't seen or found one for sale now or in the past so I don't know what it's worth. It took me a long time to find one, and yes the exchange rate is bad. Ive also advertised it locally and in Germany so maybe someone with an acs build is interested. best offer I got is 750$ which is a lot of money and it may sounds cheeky but I think it's worth more than that, and I am certainly in no rush to sell it, I can look ad it for hours.
Made a vid of the cover

Video says impossible to replicate but if it's made the way OP states then would actually be quite easy to replicate. And with no part numbers, how would you distinguish an original from a rep?sigpic

OP, I think it's worth what your asking. don't replicate this über piece.Comment

AC Schnitzer had a part number for this (1112 30 05.) Whether it made it onto the actual part somewhere is the unknown. We have to take seller's word for it. I would love to buy this but have a hard time coming off a grand without being able to authenticate.sigpic

That is the real issue. I don't think many ACS parts left with a part number. To authenticate, there needs to be something else to convince someone to part with that amount of money.
Looking at my catalog too.... I must say the refinish does not do the piece justice. The catalog shows a duller finish and even with texture not much different than a wrinkle paint.Comment

Agreed. Also looking at catalog pics and definitely has a texture. Slight differences in where the lines fall across the lettering (could be camera angle I guess.) Maybe I'm just trying too hard to talk myself out of it.sigpic

I don't need much talking. I like it. Love to have some photos of it for future reference. A thousand bucks is a lot of cash. I know in the game of old school tuner parts it could be justified..but I'd either just go with a clean VC or get a copy made for a lot less.
I don't want to take anything from this piece. It is a nice piece of history. It is a tough market being unable to authenticate and easy to replicate.Comment

Guys, I understand that without numbers etc that it would be hard to tell the difference from a real one to a fake one. As far as I know you need dimensions from a real one to reproduce one, so that would mean that I have 2.. well I am not that lucky. I think the acs plate is casted not cnc'd or milled or anything, they didn't had cnc in that time. Off course the texture from the paint is different because I coated the thing because the original paint was falling af.
I will send acs an e-mail on how they produced the cover and add pictures off this one and see what they will say. I know it's real but if there really is a big demand for this then I might reproduce them myself if it's that easy (Even tough I think it's not).
Before pictures will follow

Thank you for being so open and honest.
I have found these tuning companies to not help much with older products. Dinan. ACS. Racing Dynamics. I hope they treat you better.Comment
