    FS: M62B44NV+G420 6spd trans, SOLD

I have for sale a M62B44 (non-VANOS) 4.4L V8 motor from a 1997 540i (E39), along with the matching Getrag 420 six-speed manual transmission. The car suffered an impact to the right front, twisting the very front of the frame about an inch, hence the sale.

Swap this into your E30 for epic awesomeness!

The pair have about 130k on them, but the timing chain guides and tensioner on the motor were done less than 5k ago!! Anyone familiar with these engines knows the timing chain guides are a famous problem, and a $2000+ job. Valley pan, valve cover gaskets done too!

Motor comes with all accessories, and uncut harness/DME+EWS/key/cluster!!! Unfortunately, the starter and alternator are inoperative, having been swapped out to another car. No oil leaks, will come with exhaust manifold and other parts subject to agreement.

The transmission had a clutch job done at some point within the past 3 years, although I have no knowledge as to when exactly. I have not driven the car, and thus cannot attest to the life remaining. As far as I can tell, it leaks slightly from the selector shaft seal (a common problem with these).

$2250 for the package. Willing to separate, $1500 for the motor and $750 for the transmission. I am willing to negotiate. Pics to come forthwith, pickup in Oakville, ON, CA but can and will crate and ship at buyer's expense--will run between $500-1000 depending on your location including cost of materials. Can drive to Cleveland, Detroit or Rochester for $150, Chicago for $200. PM for details or to come see it. Also have other e39 parts available.
    More pics available here: http://s202.photobucket.com/user/TSI...?sort=3&page=1

Also have an e39 540/6 driveshaft, $200. No guibo, mileage unknown.
    Thanks for looking!

    Sold, thanks!

      Here's why you want this:
      A) v8
      B) has all the electronics, so no more complex than a m52 swap (EWS, key, Cluster, DME, uncut harness!!)
      C) no need to bother with vanos
      D) did I mention it's a v8?
      E) includes 6spd trans, clutch and pressure plate. Almost bolt-in (just need bracket extension)
      F) these manifolds flow much better than m60 ones--and the engine is bigger!
      G) timing chain guides and gaskets are all fresh!
      H) it's a bloody v8!

It's in Oakville, On, Ca as indicated, but I can bring it down with me at some point in the next couple of months at buyer's expense. What kind of trade would you be offering?

Guys, this engine doesn't leak anywhere--anyone who's dealt with a BMW V8 knows how rare that is. Plus timing chain guides done, you won't find a better engine anywhere.

Bump! I know shipping scares many people off, but I can get this to your door for cheaper than you think.

Would like this gone by Wednesday and save the storage costs. I can bring it to Buffalo and ship from there.

Why not wait till after the holiday? I bet a lot of people get holiday money...including me. I know it tends to get spent foolishly thereafter. :)
