Hey r3v,
I realize this will probably excited the VDub crowd more than it would the e30 guys, but I recently acquired a Thule 555 Fairing for my e30; without the weatherstripping. When I mounted it it's scratched up the roof of my car. After lots of research and figuring out what was the problem, I realized that there was a piece of weatherstripping I was missing.
I checked Thule's website and found the strip for $12 without shipping, but it was NLA.
Needless to say I couldn't have the fairing on my car scratching up my paint, so I spent lots of time on the phone with more than a handful of people and different companies trying to figure out where I can get my hands on the weatherstripping. I jumped through a lot of hoops trying to figure out where this weatherstrip came from and if there was any left.
I eventually was able to find three OEM strips. The numbers have been superceeded multiple times, and recotracted to multiple companies for reproduction. I was able to track down the most recent reproduction and they are absolutely OEM and look fantastic mounted on the 555 fairing as it should be. The strip has the original aluminum core-insert for extra grip/rigidity. These were never intended to be resold on Thule's website and had to be sourced from the last reproduction manufacturer; so it's not exact "OEM from Thule", but if Thule were to reproduce the strip: this would be it
Obviously, one went on my car; but now I have two extra strips that I picked up because I figured some e30 guys might have the old school 555 Fairing and need a replacement or OEM weatherstrip

I can let them go for $20 shipped
They are standard length for the 44" 555 fairing
Thanks r3v
