    M20 2.9 stroker feeler

Well this is a sad post but the reality is that this motor will not make a good rally X motor. In a really stripped out e30 there would just be too much torque on the dirt and gravel. I purchased the motor out of impulse when I saw it was the exact spec I wanted to part together plus it was pre assembled and had never been ran. This is just a feeler though, and if I don't get an offer at what I see as a fair price I will just keep it and throw it in a 2002 or something down the road.

    Details:

    M20b25 block
    M54B30 pistons
    S50B30 rods
    S50B30 crank
    All new bottom end hardware
Pistons were machined to allow valves to clear safely
Top end was cleaned and polished (not sure on port.)
All new springs rockers and the like.
    Cat Cams 298 :)

Also comes with a sand balasted and pained IM and 19lb injectors already bolted up.

New water pump and timing belt already installed and timed.

All seals and freeze plugs are new.

Motor is extremely clean and as had been mentioned has never been run. I have hand cranked it a bunch and it sounds nice and smooth, also turns smooth.

    The three very minor downfalls:

The exhaust studs will need replaced

Two of the valve cover studs got ever so slightly bent and it takes a little wiggle to get the VC off. I would replace them but they also are not hurting anything either. No VC and head did not get damaged in anyway.

Some very minor surface rust on the lower rear of the block, literally just blew off though. I suppose that's from not being soaked in oil like they normally are lol.

It also comes with a nice big packet of documents and what not.

I will update with some pics and more details later.

I am just going to ask what I want out of the motor and not an obo price that then leads to lots of low offers and negotiating. I am going to ask $2,500 for the whole deal for a forum member + shipping. I will also throw in other parts if they are wanted, FOR FREE! Just ask. This includes transmission, just pay shipping.

Note I am keeping the car just going with a 4 cyl so don't ask for other parts of the car.

Some better experts on here could probably give a better idea but I am thinking 215 - 230 range after tuning, but the torque will be unreal. It will really depend on the tune it is given.

In for crank specs as well. Guessing S50 based on displacement?
Drive it hard. Maintain it well.

Also my phone is not wanting to upload the photos of the documents, have to wait till Sunday.

All of the work was done professionally by a shop in VA.

Who built the engine? Do you have any paperwork/documents of the work done?

Okay I did not realize that R3V had such a small allowance for pic sizes. I will resize some but If you want the lot PM me.

Well, here they are. sorry they suck and sorry i didn't dust it off, also sorry for all of my crap laying around. It was a busy weekend with my brother visiting from DC.

I also realized that I did not take any of the VC which sucks. I know the pics suck and I can not get anymore until I am back home on Friday but like I said I had limited time. which leads me to saying that I am currently training away from home for work but I am back every weekend, so I can only ship out over the weekends.

Sorry again guys, let me know if you want more detailed pics of anything. I can also pull the VC and take a head pic, but I promise it looks like an M20 head and is not all sparkly and awesome.

So, I'm curious why the M54 pistons and S50 rods?

The combination make the correct stroke height to match the m20 deck height if that answers your question

I've seen several people do the same displacement with M20 rods and pistons. Is there an advantage to the ones used? At what compression (I didn't see that listed anywhere)? Did the block/head get decked at all?
