I don't know this for sure, but I don't believe those are Trophys. These definitely are:

Yours look more like the full-cloth seats that came out of the later 16V's:

              Per the VWVortex:

They are a variant of the Recaro LS-B. The seats pictured are often called "manuals". They feature a recaro ls back on a volkswagen base. The base is actually similar to what you would find on the mk3 sport seats and is not made by recaro.

The cloth is called anthracite and some of the specific features of the manuals included dual tilt and adjustment, a specific vw fixed base and a smaller headrest then the "power" versions.
The "tongue" on yours - represented by the seat bottom cushion - is more like the LS-B as opposed to the Trophys that are even with the edge of the bolster.

Just in case you're advertising these to VW guys - but hey, I could be wrong. Just wondering. Beautiful seats either way and worth every penny.

Seems like a mix or both, but you could be right. I do know the 4 post Recaro bases do swap right in. I'm seen and compared one in person.

regardless of what they are, they are awesome. if i was still rocking an MK1 I would have these. I don't even see where they have been sat in. Bump for this charming man.
                    Yours truly,

I'm not too sure how to do that. I've talked to quite a few interior people that say they do. I bought them convinced by the VW people here in town that they do. But, I couldn't find any pics or write up that they do.

You don't happen to have any Natur seats to juxtapose these with? I'm considering these seriously for my E28 M5 but only if they fit the Natur interior of my car and I just can't tell how close the match this if the there is not a natur piece right next to them for comparison...
