How were the housings shortened? I didn't even know this could be done. Was it for a coilover setup?

The housings (yellow part) or stand tube as bilstein calls it can be shortened quite easily with a pipe cutter. You take it off the bottom. It is only possible on the front dampers. I did it so i could run them in shortened strut housings for my GE set up.Comment

That's very good to know, I didn't know that. Always thought iX strut inserts were the only shorter option.
