FS: M20B25 in Atlanta (Available 8/15ish)

This motor is currently powering my car, so you can't have it until I pull it out. It will be 100% complete, with wiring harness, ECU, airbox, motor mounts, even the whole exhaust off the entire car, if you want it. Mileage unknown, the car's odometer is frozen at 240k+ so it's obviously not the original motor. I know the head was rebuilt by the PO, and it pulls strong and doesn't burn any oil.

$500 OBO. Could be less if you come pick it up the day I pull it out. You can also hear it run if you come pick it up.

Free auto tranny, too, if you want it. Also 4.10 open, but I'll want a few more bucks for that.

This is EVERYTHING you need to turn your ETA into an i powered sleeper.

Might you have the time and knowhow (assuming I reciprocate) to do a direct swap while we're at it? I've got a 1990 318is that's not running. I've love to get the car running again so I could autocross some (with minimal investment back into the car).

Or does anyone know if the swap will be direct or there will be any need for a new front cross member (as in, does the M20 bolt up to the same places the M42 does on the chassis)?

    Thanks amigo!

I am going to say no. I am doing my swap on borrowed time in a borrowed garage with a lot of borrowed help, I can't stretch all that any farther than I already am.

But... If you can get a truck or something and pick the motor and stuff up, I'd be happy to help you swap it in and get it running on your own time/turf/parts. You'd need to find a 325i manual tranny and driveshaft (and clutch and flywheel and pilot bearing...) and put it all together.

You still have this? I have an eta right now. Live in Birmingham, AL so not too far away. And I do need the exhaust too!

Well, I'll have to check into my status about transporting something like that around. I'm in the middle of a living quarters change and may or may-not have the means to do so. With that said, I'll see what I can do and get back to you in due time.

However, if you would like an extra set of hands to swap the car (even if I am unable to purchase the engine), feel free to contact me. It would be great to see the process. You have a date / time setup for sure yet?

Prince - have you considered selling the 318?

It's not that I don't have it anymore... I don't have it yet. The motor is in my car driving around right now. It will be availiable the day I start my M50 swap, sometime later in August.

                  Randy:

Hello old chum. We are doing Matt's swap at my garage. I see no reason we couldn't do yours here as well. We will have to coordinate it carefully, but it could be done. He is planning his swap for sometime in mid-august, so anytime after that should do. That should give you plenty of time to get the rest of the needed parts.

BTW, the 325e is coming along pretty decent these days, you'll barely recognize it. ;-)

                  Take Care,
                  Ben

                    HA!

No shit...what a conensidence! I'm going to have to check into getting the tranny and driveshaft this week and then I'll know better how to go about this and my cost, etc.

By the way, I sent you an email a few days ago. One of Maria's friends is coming into town with her this weekend. Figure we'd take her to the 'bench. You be around Saturday evening?

Prince, you have first dibs. Shoot me an email and let me know what you decide, please. The price won't be $500 for you, for sure. Email me and we can talk about that.

                            Bump.

Man it would be nice to get somebody lined up to take this old motor.

If you are a little flexible on the price I would be able to come down and get it..
I'm close to Chattanooga.. That would make my eta a little quicker..
