Despite the error in the description, this is, in fact an Academic Edition. The only difference between the academic and the retail editions is the pricing and the fact that Microsoft sells AE's only to Students, their parents, or Teachers. If you say you're a student, parent or teacher, I'll take you at your word.

They're on eBay -- no reserves on any of my stuff. All of the auctions end Sunday (tomorrow) evening. Click the images or the titles to go to the auction page for each item, or the link in the last paragraph to see all of my stuff on one page.

The 5350 has a starting price of $100 and a Buy It Now of $320, until the first bid is placed. The 5300 has a starting bid of $80 and a Buy it Now of $275, which includes a free WiFi PCMCIA card.

Microsoft's Net Safety Team contacted me via eBay (userid: msnetsafeteam) about the license transfers. I told them that I was going to ensure that anyone who successfully bid on the AE copies of XP was either a parent, teacher or student. They did not respond either way. As it is, I know eBay has a policy of suspending auctions that violate license terms (including the sale of OEM licensed software without the original hardware), so I'm taking the fact that eBay hasn't cancelled my auction as a sign that I'm not in violation of the license terms.

(In a worst case scenario, if the copy of XP won't install on another computer, I'll consider it DOA and offer a refund upon return, just as it states in the listing terms.)
