why would you do an s14 swap into a normal e30 when you can do s50/2 swap for nearly the same money? s14 belongs in a 2002 imho.

            Peaky is the new fast?

S14s are great motors... for 2002s.

A stock S14 is not that peaky. After around 3000 rpm the torque curve is fairly flat to redline, and the engine is far from dead underneath 3000rpm. It wakes up around 2200+. You play with cams and long tube headers, you might get peakier output.

Lets get back to the original thread. Low mileage S14 FS for $3500.

In regards to the value of the s14 M3, I do not pay much attention to it. Even if it goes up, are we selling it anyways? The answer for most people is never - so I do not see much point in that.

I just want to basically enjoy a faster, livelier, torquey engine, the s14 is nice but I find it slow for me. Being in an s50 conversion, puts a big smile in my face, I can only imagine Vlad's that has over 380hp:)

Plus, it would be nice to overtake a 4-door Hyundai these days that run over 200hp basic:)

If you do a conversion nice and right, I think the value is OK and it will sell well, but then again- I won't sell:) I have a guy in TX that sent me a deposit for my engine with a 2002, to reserve my engine until my conversion is done.

Since when is 2700 lbs heavy? By the way, the 2002 weighs 2282 lbs, not 600 lbs, which is what a new Yamaha Grizzly four-wheeler wieghs.

good luck on the sale but I don't understand all this hate for the S14.

Last I checked it was an s14 powered car that won over 1500 races in an m3. I have one in my m3 and it does just fine. Takes a built US S50 to pull on at track days

Just make sure you address the placement of the weight in terms of the front axle, not just how much it weighs, but where exactly that weight is, to keep the balance of the car. Not that it makes that much difference on the street though.

That wasn't clear... 600lbs lighter than an e30.

The new Yamaha Grizzly weighs 600 lbs period. The fact that someone said an s14 should go in a 600 lb car, like a 2002, is absurd because 2002s don't weigh 600 lbs (if any practicle car does).

You are dead on. Dry weight is 600#. Best analogy to real world example I've seen in a while.

I have a YFZ 450, and all the brochures from the '06 lineup since it took a bit to make up my mind. You either are a rabid Yamaha fan or work at a dealership - give it up - which is it?

It was dead on to the brochure - 600#, not 601, or 599 - remind me never challenge you to a battle of wits - I fear you must be the next Dread Pirate Roberts.

Neither, actually. I just read the post and thought of four-wheelers, so I did some quick research.

And it's funny you mention the Dread Pirate Roberts...I'm actually a prisoner of his. He keeps telling me the same thing every night...Good night, Richard. Good work. Sleep well. I'll most likely kill you in the morning.

Ummmm...pancake, your actually kinda slow and not as witty as LINUS would describe. He was just talking about the car being 600 pounds LESS than an e30 not a 600 pound car.
