I hope you didn't bend the valves placing the head valve down! eek.

if you bent valves by placeing the head down than your valves are worthless not to metion the valves never go lower than the dome of the combustion chamber or else you would bend them every time the piston went up.excluding low comp pistons and all that jazz) but no i didnt bend the valves

I agree with the first part, you'd have to drop the head to damage the valves. But I believe the valve heads do hang down below the deck surface of the head when they are held open by the cam. I just had my head off and had to space it about 1/2" off my workbench to keep the valves from hitting. I know with my Catcam they are below, but IIRC the stock cam also made them interfere, at the outboard side of the intakes.

That's at a fair amount of lift, is it possible to turn the cam so the valves are all low enough to clear? I didn't bother to check that.

At peak lift they will extend down below the deck of the head.

True, you'd have to have some impact on the table surface to bend them... but it's just good practice to keep the head upside down for storage. Let it rest on the studs for the valve cover nuts.

yes it is possible because if you look none of the valves are sticking below the deck. trust me im not that stupid to of rested the head on the valves im no noob when it comes to mechanics either. and second of all if i had no clue what i was doing than i would have placed the head up side down inwhich would bend the crap out of the oil line that runs on top. thank you for your concerns but believe me, the head is perfectly ok.
