FS: Complete S14 motor, tranny, DME, and wire harness

Selling a complete motor from radiator back to the guibo (tranny, DME, wire harness). It has 183K. Local shop has done a compression test on it.

    Cyl 1 - 200
    Cyl 2 - 180
    Cyl 3 - 180
    Cyl 4 - 125

The motor is still in the car, and will be taken out in a week. Whoever is local is more then welcome to drive it. Car still pulls hard, and doesn't burn or leak any oil. I've talked to Ben T (mechanic in Chicago) in regards to the low number on Cyl 4, and he said that it will need a new valve job. Asking $2500 + shipping for the set up. I will post a few pics and a video of it running.

    Thanks for looking,

I have driven this motor and was very impressed with how well it pulled.

Hey Dan. Burnt or bent valve?

the mechanic did mentioned that the valve might not be seated right. So I couldn't tell you exactly. He poured oil in the cylinder (wet test), but the compression number still stayed the same.

are you sure thats not the rings being bad in that cylinder?

I doubt that it's a ring that's bad. As I mention above, a wet compression test was done as well, and the numbers did not change. If it was a ring that was bad, shouldn't there be a large difference in compression number between wet and dry tests to indicate piston ring wear, since the oil poured into the cylinders, would seal them up temporarily??

Also test drove it, engine is more then solid for a s14. Drives strong...

yeah the wet test tests the sealing of the rings temporarily. thats how he determined it was the valves... though the proper way would be a compression leakdown test to tell exactly where the leak in compression is coming from.

i saw blue/grey smoke out the exhaust pipe.
its burning oil, i would asume its the rings for that cylinder.

Not necessarily. Blue smoke could also mean a problem with the valve guide. The car doesn't burn oil, there's no soot on the bumper, plate or the spoiler. Most S14s burn some oil when you get on them. Notice that the car does not blow any type of smoke (blue or black) at idle. It only smoked at take off. According to the mechanic, if it was a ring problem, the car would've indicated power loss, and it does not.
