FS/WTB forum poll...is there a problem with thread crapping?

And if so, do some regulations need to be put in place? Not so much that "if you aren't going to buy it don't post," but basically unless someone is very clearly trying to rip someone else off, keep your mouth shut?

I know it's happened to a couple of my threads...."Not trying to kill your sale, but <insert reason why price is bullshit or some other crap to kill the sale here>"

I just noticed it happened in the thread with Stu's dad's car too...

I'd say if you have a problem with someone's price why not PM them and discuss it, that way if the price realy is crazy, and the seller didn't realize it he/she could edit the post and not get the hole forum involvled in it.

I think that price can and should be openly discussed within the thread, however, personal opinions of products and/or needless comments should not be posted. Stu's post about the M3 is a prime example of this.

If you're not semi-interested in purchasing the product, don't post in the thread.
Answering a question of a potential buyer (even if you're not the seller) is perfectly acceptable, in my opinion (as long as you're 100% sure of the validity of your statement).

Do you guys think it is acceptable for Moderators to delete senseless posts in the FS/WTB forum?

yeah to a point... though if someone has something important to say about a part that may be questionable i think it should be allowed....

but things like "that is sooo friggin GAY" is uncalled for and un-needed

            I completely agree.

Do you think that Moderators should delete the worthless posts?
            * so far the poll is in strong favor of this... if the correlation continues after more votes, I'll start doing what I can to control the 'crapping'

              Yes.

However, I don't think it is the mods responsibility to monitor each individual sale. If there is a problem, the seller should PM the mod.

I think it's absolutely retarded when people post on a FS/WTB thread to tell OTHER PEOPLE to stop posting on that thread.

Funnily enough, you did that, Bimmerphile, on the thread about Stu's dad's car.... I'm not insulting you, just making a point.

If you want to tell 'em something like that, either PM 'em - or find another another to get hold of them, such as through AIM.

And if that doesn't work --- get hold of a Moderator. That's what they're there for, I say.

But certainly do not post "Don't post here unless you're contributing" when it's not even your thread. Coz then you're just making it worse yourself.

                  Bump.

I'd really like to know if everyone would be OK with mods being able to delete useless posts in the fs/wtb forum. Please vote.

I kind of think it's alrright for a mod to delete a post if it's thread crapping (if, say, the person's saying, "wow, I can get that <here> for $15 less". Just be sure to send a PM to the maker of that post, letting them know you deleted it, and why.

Then reccommend that they send the thread starter a PM about their price. This way it'll prevent any future buyers from seeing the post that may end up hurting thier sale.

I think price negotiating is fine within the thread, but only if it's a reasonable offer. If someone shoots a major lowball just to be funny (or an ass), then that would warrant a delete (in my opinion.)

I completely think our usual jokingly selves should be toned down in the FS forum. It's cool in the community to post funny stuff, but FS should be more serious.

Plus, I don't think it's right to hate on stuff just because you don't like it. Keep those ideas to yourself.

Yeah, I've kinda been doin that too. Things like "good luck on the sale, nice product" really aren't called for.

I think the only posts that should be allowed in a For Sale thread are those asking for more information, saying they want it, or someone offering some useful information that would help the sell and inform a possible buyer.

I think that bumping for a pal who's at the bottom of the page is alright, and gives thumbs up for a good seller is cool. Giving support to a good seller can also be considered informing the possible buyer.
