I've decided to sell the M50 I just bought. I was planning on turbocharging it and putting it into my E30, but I've decided to do something different. I purchased the engine from Eurodepot, and this is their description and pictures:
When I received it the sump had gone through the wooden pallet (there's no oil pan) and debris got into the bottom end because the idiots didn't seal up the bottom end. I was able to clean it up real well remove all the debris. They're sending me another sump as well as an oil pan gasket. Basically, none of what I said above matters, since it's all cleaned up, but I wanted to mention it here in case someone saw me mention it elsewhere and said 'why didn't you say anything about blah blah blah?".
Two other things this fine company failed to mention is the A/C compressor doesn't spin and there's a hole in the dome of the starter. I wouldn't feel right selling this engine to someone without first disclosing those things.
Other than those, there's absolutely no reason I'd hesitate to drop this in my car. I wanted a non-vanos engine for the stronger internals, as I was planning to turbocharge it. When turbocharged, these engines are good for 500rwhp+. With only 107k, this engine is still a baby; the bottom end looks immaculate.
I'm posting this for $795, please let me know if you're interested.
Up for auction is a complete BMW M50 2.5L engine as removed from a 1992 325is here at our store.
This engine ran absolutely great with no signs of problems or concern. This engine also had good compression throughout and passed the leak down test. The mileage on the car's odometer was 107,000, but no idea if the engine has been replaced or rebuilt at some point in it's life; part's car unfortunately do not come with full histories.
All accessories are included such as A/C compressor, P/S pump, starter, alternator, engine harness, and more!
We would recommend items to be replaced that are easy to access with the engine removed such as, oil pan gaskets, valve cover gaskets, water pump, spark plugs, hoses, etc. All of these items are available through our store and we will meet or beat our competitors' pricing! Combine up shipping and save! Please note the ECU is not included.
This engine would be great for a direct bolt in to a 1992 e36 325is, a light adjustment to fit into an e34 525i, or 525i touring, or for the famed e30 M50 conversion!
A Great Buy! The value of the accessories alone individually are more than the starting bid of this auction! You could part out this engine and sell the individual parts on Ebay and make $$$ on it, we just don't have the time to do this! Your gain!
