    Parting M42 and Getrag 240

I haven't taken the head off the engine yet, but the crank timing gear failed. I have an M20 and Getrag 260 to go in the car, so all the M42-related bits have to go. Radiator, coils, intake, everything.

The 5-speed transmission was rebuilt two years ago.

Let me know what you need.

Just realized you're putting an M20/G260 in the car. How are you able to do that? Are you swapping everything over? I've heard it was a PITA.

Yes, please do. I was considering doing it myself....87 325ic ---> 91 318ic..... but didn't find any info except for a couple people who tried it, didn't appear to succeed and everyone yelled at them for swapping an M20 for an M42....go figure.

I had an '91 M42-powered vert (with factory Star Spoke wheels) back in 1997. It was OK, but the 4 cylinder is not my cup of meat. I prefer the larger engine.

How bad can it be? It's an E30, and I'm replacing the engine with another one out of an E30. I have the harness, ECU, engine, trans, and all the crossmember & mounts.

I can't imagine why anyone would yell at me for putting a six in my car.

                Depends on its condition.
