From my very limited knowledge of bodywork... I think fire changes the chemical balance in steel, and paint has a hard time bonding to it??

That first car is not in oregon, but it will be. :)

If anyone wants to try saving the fenders, they are available.

How does the front left brake caliper/carrier look? Do they look rebuildable? If so, let me know.

it's here, this thing is messed.
I think the suspension is usable. Brakes are rebuildable.
Engine is for parts only. ALL aluminum on the entire car has been melted.

Nothing steel and structural on that car is useable, especially suspension components. If the Al melted, most of the steel up front at least got a nice cherry red, and this essentially anneals the steel. Steel gets its strength from the lattice structure that forms as it is rapidly cooled by quenching. You've seen the blacksmiths plunging the tool in water after they form it, they are quenching it for strength. If it gets red hot, even well below melting point, and then slowly cools, it has lost the majority of its strength properties.
