Basically, everyone saying "OMG I would buy this if I lived closer" or "Someone talk me into this" can't afford it and is just dreaming.

would you like to see my bank account? I just put brand new tie rods, control arms, front and rear wheel bearings on. Not to mention the 4 lug bbs wheels and brand new tires ive got. So even though this is an upgrade, its still used parts.
      Old and improved:

Price is high, IMHO. I know, I'm being unreasonable. But these are used parts.
All the same, worth an email.

Not really you might to check into the salvage sites out there. This is the going rate. With everything that is included there you are probably coming out ahead.

with the upgrade parts over stock parts included in that setup plus the wheels/tires that really is a good deal

Yeah this is definitely a great deal. All of these parts are getting very hard to find and prices are going up, not down. The wheels themselves are probably worth a few hundred, never mind a E30 M3 rack.

Well, I absolutely agree on the fact that *if* all the stuff that they are selling is in working condition (discounting the fact that those wheels are not OE on any M3 I know of), there may be a good savings there. Probably over 50% from new.
However, it is also true that the only pieces worth something of that setup are the front strut carriers and hubs, the camber plates maybe, the front arms if they're aluminium, the ST sway bars and the steering rack, konis and eibachs (or GC setup, if that's what it is), IF all these latter items are in particularly good condition (and if they've been tracked often, they won't be, not even the springs - and in an environment where nobody, not even the so called 'specialised racing shops', has been able to produce the response curves of koni yellow struts vs. blistein vs. stock, I have to wonder where I'd have to take them to get checked, but that's another story for another time).
Therefore, I would say that is a fair deal for some parts which have a good used value for all the right reasons, if the parts are in good condition. However, with the valuable parts there is quite a bit of filler and more importantly the valuable parts are of interest only to a very small subset of people, those who own a non-M E30 and who will take a used GC setup.
With that said, I sent an email and am waiting for a reply. But I wouldn't qualify this as 'smoking deal' - and in the past year, I have accumulated a lot of E30 related parts. Unfortunately.

I love how so many people are bitching about how it is and isnt a smoking deal. If you buy the strut tubes, knuckles, wheel bearings, calipers, carriers, hub flanges, gc coils etc you will be around 5k. Just for new strut tubes and knuckles you are going to be paying over 1500 at the dealer.

If you havent done an e30 m3 5 lug swap, then shut the fuck up. Dream and say oh what you would do all you want. But dont go running your mouths about numbers when you dont know what the hell you are talking about.

Very good deal here. I dont need it as I have done full 5 lug and have enough parts for a second. If I were there I would buy this asap. Someone go buy it and resell it for some more $.

                    -edit-
Mostly all aimed towards one dipwad. :finger:

I always appreciate good, mature, useful commentary. Thank you, E30 groupie.
Oh and, just for reference, since you pride yourself on 'knowing what you're talking about' strut tubes and knuckles, new, can be bought for $1186.30. Would you care for a copy of the receipt?
                        Please, follow your own advice.

Depends on how good of an account you have at the dealer, I guess. But anyway 1200 prior to tax is expensive for knuckles and struts.

Why argue about this anyway isn't kind of silly? oh yeah this is R3V where we bear each other senseless over nothing.

Well, I offered an opinion, backed by a lot of actual purchasing done since about 2000, when I acquired the first E30. I got called names. I am not graceful enough to just shut up.
With this said, I agree with you absolutely: $1200 is expensive. Heck, I'd consider half of that expensive, considering what the actual differences are. This is why I'm still toying with the idea of an alternative solution. The sleeve around the 4-lug kingpin sounds like the easiest. My issue is that the cars and the CNC stuff have an ocean between them. That makes things more complicated.

It now has been listed at $1200 on c list. Damn wish my life wasn't so twisted right now.
