I have a 1.7 too. If you enter the serial number on their site it tells you what's better about the 1.8 and how much it costs to have yours upgraded. Last time I checked, the only difference that was relevent for U.S. users was POPradar detection. Most cops don't even know what that is so meh. The cases are all the same, going back forever so you can always have the latest/greatest if you wanted.
