FS: NLA RRT -2.0 Degree Fixed Camber Plates

For Sale - RRT (Road RaceTechnology) -2.0 Fixed Camber Plates for all E30. These parts are no longer available from RRT. I had these in my E30 325i for 2 years - but I decided to go Spec E30, not BMWCCA K stock, so these parts are illegal for that series, so here they are.

I replaced all the nuts, and cleaned them up for sale - they look as nice as the day I put them in. There is not an easier, less complex way to max out your camber on an E30 than this.

Paid big bucks for them 2 years ago - looking for $100.00 for the pair. Need to use a bit of locktite on the studs - this re-uses the stock strut bearing (I needed 1 stock bearing and one offset bearing to get to -2.5 degrees on both sides). I can walk you through the install, but once you have the strut out, this is cake.

When did the -2 fixed plates become "illegal" in Spec e30? Last I checked, plates were free.

They are not. The rule seems clear to me....

9.3.8.1. Any adjustable camber or camber/caster plate is allowed, unless specified in these regulations.

These are not adjustable - therefore illegal.

Per Carter (the series Godfather) "....reading the first rule above, my initial interpretation is that adjustable camber plates are allowed, which means that the car should either be kept as it came from the factory, or it is allowed to have adjustable plates...that is, the plate itself can be adjusted in its mounting plate. It does not say that a fixed offset plate can be swapped around to have two fixed settings, and is thus, "adjustable.""

Ahh, another fine crackhead rule. Makes about as much sense as interior gutting but requiring a really high minimum weight. I remember pushing for more "k-stock" rules crossover ~4 years ago on the spec e30 mailing list, so as to give the cars their own class to run in with the BMWCCA vs being eaten alive as a KP car.

Personally, I'd interpret these as "any" plate and run them until bitched at. Nonetheless, I've run these plates for about 3 years and love 'em. The car has sort of moved beyond "spec e30" prep and more into the NASA TT/PT realm. Those plates are a "free" mod in TT/PT. ;)

Now, remember....I'm just the messenger here, but... rules are rules - I don't know the thought process, other than they have done an awesome of keeping costs down in this series. I assume, when this rule was created - they looked at a bunch of E30s at the track for a while - probably all of them fit into the Adjustable Camber Plates or Stock configuration - they made those the legal setups, and moved on.

The best part of the rules of the series are they are very stable as compared to BMWCCA (not that BMWCR is not a fabulous series). The big debate now is the exhaust. They went to the Nationals at Mid Ohio, and were going to look at what was the common setups, and write the rules around them, hoping that a good percentage would not have to change anything major. You have to respect that - the rule makers are fellow racers, and really have a good ethic for doing the right thing.

Like I told someone via Private Message - before you do anything, read the rules, read them again, and post a question on the board at www.specE30.com. Really is a great peer group. Do a search on "fixed camber" and you can see the clarification.

BTW, Charlie - don't know if you remeber me - we met at Mid Ohio a few years back - white E30 325i - John and Natalie Black? We moved to Florida from Cleveland. That car looks nothing like it did..... I have more fun in it - miles of smiles!

                        ya... :(

                        But we got it back....

                        Well, the car back.

No tralier, seats, steering wheel, roll bar padding, harnesses, helmets, shoes, suits, gas cans, wheels and tires.,,,

2 weeks before we moved. It was like f-u from Cleveland (so glad to be out of that hell hole).

The found it 6 weeks later in the hood (E22 and Woodland). Trailer plate on the 325, trailer gone. We are almost back to ready, but it still needs some paint work where the bastards scratched their initials in the trunk and side.
