FS: Carbon Fiber Ryan G late splitter

    $120 shipped paypal: runinmex@aol.com

It has about 8 layers of carbon on it. It is thick so it wouldnt crack when it scraped on the ground. It was layed over a Ryan G splitter and then cleared. It was not vacuum bagged. We were trying to find a fast and cheap way to make them.

I want. Can you tell me why there is the stepped groove about a half inch wide all the way down the middle on the top of this? And why is the texture so rough?

The groove you see is from the masking tape that was layed over the ABS Ryan G splitter to keep the carbon off the splitter as it got layed up. We couldnt make a mould since we were trying to make it on the down low. The carbon was then layed on top of the ABS splitter.

Its rough because it wasnt vacuum bagged. Its carbon with clear sprayed over it. This was supposed to be a rough version before we started making more. Unforunatly this is the only one we ended making.

The groove is right where i was going to mount it to the lip. So you wouldnt even see it. But that was my choice for setup, yours may be different.

I like it allot. You may have something here if you can get them cleaned up a little bit and make a grip of them. $120 Thats a great deal.

^^^^ Because its a little messy and if you think about it.... It was layed out on top of another spliter, not put into a mold. Therefore the fitment will be 1/8 - 1/4 inch off. Depends if he layed it on the top or bottom of the other splitter. I dont know..... Its a great price considering its carbon fiber. But the fitment would concern me. Just my 2cents

Thickness itself is almost dead on with the ABS splitter but yeah it is about 1/8 inch smaller after trimming the edges on front and back.

Just make a mold out of fiberglass. Lay it up over the lip like you did, then prime the inside and sand it smooth. Then lay carbon in this. Make sure to lay the fiberglass on top of the splitter so the top of the finished splitter is the smooth side.

I've always wanted to try Space Bags for vacuum bagging. I've got one and with a shop vac, it will suck a 6" thick pillow down to a 1/4". As long as the resin doesn't eat the plastic (haven't tried), it ought to work great.
