does it take the place of the plastic bumper cover? do you still use mounting plates for the bumper?

It replaces the entire bumper. Your body shop will need to "fab" mounting brackets..

Holy shit..Didn't know they were worth that much. I sold one 2 yrs ago for only $80 bucks. I thought it was wrong and quite ugly for E30s so my price reflected that. Either way, Eurostyle's stuff is really strong and top notch! Bump!
