Are the iS springs any lower or stiffer than the i springs? Significantly?

As far as I know i and iS got the same springs.

Second question, does the rear subframe include the trailing arms and if so what shape are the wheel bearings in?

Rear subframe does include trailing arms. I would replace the wheel bearings though. I remember some noise (metal on metal) when I would drive with the windows down. I can't say whether it was the fronts or the rears, but out of uncertainty, I would recommend changing them.
