    Euro Smilies w/ full adjusting system

    I'm thinking $400 + Shipping, or a very nice regular set of euro smilies and some $, let me know what you think. IIRC, an adjuster screw needs to get loosened up or replaced as well as the little plastic thumb cap. If someone is interested I'll look into it further again. I bought them for my 325ic but don't feel like routing the lines and could use some extra cash. There is a dedicated hole in your firewall grommet that hasn't been cut out that these go through. You DONT pull the lines apart and fish them through a small hole. That is what the grommet is for on the lines, to plug it.

          does it aim them up and down and left and right?

          i'm trying to get an idea of how far these point in any direction.

          i know the original poster doesn't have them installed but does anyone else?

            Honestly, I haven't really seen any complete systems on cars. It doesn't go left and right. It just goes up and down a little bit, by pivoting the lower adjusting bolt. It's a rare part, and kinda cool. It just aims the headlights more straight out to light up the road further ahead. I assume it was made to see longer distances, but that would also of course light the road a little less directly ahead of the car, which you could use the fog lights for. It functions both adjusting pistons equally but only start pushing them out and feeling resistance in the knob (of it pushing fluid into the pistons) almost half way around. The one other sealed system I've known of did the same thing, but an attempt to bleed the fluid may make it better, but as far as I know, it's supposed to be like that. The only thing about that is it's an entirely sealed system, with some nail spike things in the piston actuators that I don't dare take out, but I presume may be what fluid was put through from the factory then sealed with. One in each actuator and two in the adjusting knob piece, one for each side I guess. I haven't touched that stuff.

                Nice system. It's actually intended to compensate the beam angle when carrying heavy loads in the car ie. passengers, So that the beam won't point up in the air due to the tail of the car getting lowered by the load.

                  Ooh good call! That makes more sense actually when the dial is turned to the right all the way, it shows a zero for like 0 payload and faced up. I never quite figured that out. Then to the left, it decreases the angle of the lights but has higher numbers, indicating the increased payload but aiming the lights down some towards the road so it doesn't screw up the adjustment. I guess it could work either way, but shouldn't be used to compensate for poorly adjusted lights that don't "reach" as far as they should. But if they do, don't blind people with this :D
