I have a 1995 S50US B30 engine up for sale with some swap parts and the 24lb injector/3.5 HFM power package. $2800 It is currently installed in an E30, but can be easily removed should you want to buy it soon.
The last mileage recorded by C a r f a x is 125,194 in 3/2004. I bought the engine from an M3 owner in upstate NY in April 2006. At the time I talked to him, he said he put 20K miles on it after he purchased the car. So, the total mileage at the time of the swap was roughly 145K. The top end was extremely clean and the cams showed no real scoring like some S50 US engines that have been run hard. The engine was from an automatic car.
I ran this engine for 13K miles. It now should have around 158K miles on it.
The VIN is WBSBF0320SEN91045. I have the CF that I ran prior to buying the engine. Just email me and I can get you the document.
Maintenance:
When I did the swap, prior to dropping the engine into the car, I installed new valve spring retainers. I R&R'd the valve spring retainers with new pieces I ordered from Circle BMW, as well as the valve keepers.
The following parts were also replaced at the time of the swap:
Valve cover gasket, spark plug well gaskets, valve cover grommets
Genuine BMW composite blade water pump
75 degree thermostat
Ronak aluminum thermostat housing
Intake manifold gaskets
Throttle body gasket
Exhaust gaskets
NGK spark plugs
Oil pump nut secured with drilled oil pump nut and safety wire, and Red Loctited for extra insurance.
All coolant hoses, including the $70 spider hose.
S52 timing chain tensioner was installed 33K miles ago, by previous owner.
The Vanos was rebuilt with the Beisan Systems gasket around 1500 miles ago.
Compression Test, cold:
Compression test performed 12/10/2007. THIS IS OLD INFO. I WILL UPDATE SOON.
Procedure:
Start car, idle for 2 minutes. Remove E30 fuse 11 (injection electronics). Remove coils and all 6 spark plugs. Insert compression tester into sparkplug hole. Crank car four times, read gauge. Some comp tests usually crank the engine 8 times or so. This is not really an accurate representation of engine health. The readings should stop changing after around 5-6 cranks.
Results:
Cylinder 1: 180
Cylinder 2: 185
Cylinder 3: 190
Cylinder 4: 185
Cylinder 5: 190
Cylinder 6: 180
Interpretation:
Even compression across all cylinders, even when engine is cold.
What is Included:
Longblock
Silver label 413 DME with TMS EWS delete chip, 24lb/hr inj, Euro HFM, and said parts (inj, HFM)
