Is $300 for m30b35 bottom end a good price ?

Called Bavarian to get a quote on a bottom end. Was quoted $300 for block, crank, rods, pistons, oil pump/ pan. No head or accessories.

I am thinking I can pull the head and rest myself, but get the bottom end from a recycler (so I don't have to suffer with pulling it out of the car myself etc).

Worth it or better to buy the whole thing all together etc?

Keeping my commentary directed exactly towards your specific request (M30, not M50), I would definitely have to admit that it would behoove you Jean to purchase an M30 long block in tact with all ancillaries (possibly with the complete drive train). In almost every situation that I have personally encountered or heard of it is more expensive to piece something of this nature together as opposed to starting with something complete from the "get go". A parts car that features the components that you desire for the swap would ultimately provide the most straight forward result. This option of course will allow you to recoup money with unused parts that can later be sold.

With respect to the pricing on the complete short block assembly I would not be able to tell you if the price is fair or not. I have never solely purchased an M30 block nor have I previously dealt with Bavarian. I have "heard" that they offer good products and services. I have also "heard" that they tend to be a bit on the high side when it comes to pricing.

Back on topic, $300 is a bit much for just the block. For reference purposes, I purchased a complete engine, with every accessory for $500. Unfortunately with something like this, it is best to find something local...patience is the key. Good luck with the search!

If you end up with the block, let me know if you want b34 head and/or some high comp pistons.

Shit, I gave one of these away to the scrappers too. Would have just given it away...

I should probably stop doing that, but they are sooo dam old, and possibly destroyed.
