im done with the m20. i've been collecting parts to turbo it, but now that i've driven my friend's m50 swapped e30, i know that will suit me better (turbo eats too much gas). engine is out of my 89 325is, head fully rebuilt 15k miles ago. now there are some options:
here is the engine as it is:

clean, stock m20b25 running megasquirt and 19lb injectors. custom intake w/ stock temp sensor plug. cap on the passanger's side of the intake manifold was tapped for a vacuum line to run map. engine has 180k miles (15k on new head). i'd like to get $800 for it, including megasquirt (pictured below)
i also have the complete bottom end from a perfectly good eta engine (removed for m50 swap).

bad picture but every cylinder has excellent cross hatchings on cylinder walls

what i can do is slap everything, including the rebuilt 885 casting head, on this bottom end for you (i already have gaskets, bolts, seals, and timing belt ready) to have a nice 2.7L stroker. i would like to get $1000 for the fresh 2.7L including megasquirt
option time! :)
i can completely return the b25 to stock (you choose 14/17/19lb injectors, and m20/m30 afm). will come with motronic ecu. for $400
the 2.7L stroker with motronic (recommended 19lb/m30 afm). cost of gaskets, belts, and bolts alone was well over 100$, plus the bottom end. i'd like to get $600 for the motronic running 2.7L stroker
megasquirt. 100% plug and play. will come with everything (modified airbox for custom "maf", vacuum lines for MAP) top of motronic box slides right on, i just took it off for access and a picture =)

$400! similar plug and play setups sell for 500-600$.

m20 2.7L stroker, choice of injectors/afm, also motronic ($600 obo)
