That manifold used a Solex 4A1, but you can adapt a Holley spreadbore to it with a plate. I did so on an M30 4 barrel manifold that originally came with a Solex.

Whoa, cool. Is it better than fuel injection?

Well, carburation vs.injection like most e30's. I don't know what I'm talking about, hence I'm asking questions. Please educate me.

I think most people are better off to stick with the Fuel Injection. If you have a Euro car that came with the carb then the Holley is a way to go as the Solex sucked. I think Weber also made a carb that fit this manifold as an after-market replacement. BMW and Mercedes both used the Solex and there are lots of cars in the world that came with them we just don't see many here in North America. There's more to it than just switching the manifolds as you are going to have to replace the Motronic with the old school distributor that goes in the left side of the block.

Eh carbs vs injection is played out and anyone would be nuts to go carbed...........IMO.

But if I had the buck I'd buy that in a second to put in the cool shit I have area of the garage.........I'd keep that personally.

I was going to put in my e30. But got thinking and said, if i'm going to stick a carb motor into it. It will not be on a 6cly. I figured someone else maybe able to put it to use. Cause all i'm doing is looking at it, and i don't need anymore stuff to look at :)..

if i didn't just learn that the distributor would have to be replaced i would have snatch that from you and done a blow through setup.

will this fit any m20 head? i read something that said a manifold like that would only work on one of the castings. rare/old/euro something or other. i could be wrong

It fit right up to my 200 eta head. Also the ports in the intake are really small.

I also had a thought if no one wants it. I'll make it into a wall lamp! Put a carb on it, use the air cleaner stud as the rod for the light and shade. That would be sexy looking in the garage. :nice:

You dont need to replace the distributor. The ecu will still fire on time if wired properly.
