Where in MD? I'm just outside Baltimore and might be able to pick it up.

Home of the Baysox - Bowie, and pickup would be ideal.

The inquiries I've had all seem to come from the Left Coast, and everyone is displeased that it costs over $100 to ship that far. Due to the size it moves to dimensional weight, nothing I can do about that, and I'm already eating packaging costs.

$100? Which company are you getting quotes from?

I'm curious, as I have a rear seat I'm looking to sell. I was under the impression it would cost $40 to ship nationwide.

I'll hit you up when I'm out there next week. I'll be down in Bowie area for a day or two.
I may pick up and ship it on my own...

When you plug the dimensions in on the FedEx shipping calculator, it comes back oversize, so dimensional weight applies. I won't ship UPS as it is more expensive and I've had worse experiences with their handling.

And that's being conservative on the packing material - I normally use a fair amount of bubble- and shrink-wrap to cover seats before shipping so they don't get screwed up. The other thing I don't do is bend the tabs down on the upper rear seat back - it may make it a couple of inches narrower, but bending those tabs back and forth is not good and I've had one break off before, which leaves you with a seat that is not secured at the bottom.

You can ship Greyhound for much less, but they basically ride in the bottom of a bus to wherever they are going, and there is no telling when they may actually arrive. I shipped a set of front seats via Greyhound once, Texas to Minnesota, took over two weeks to arrive.

I'm sure there must be a Greyhound station around here somewhere that I could use if someone was so inclined, but I'd probably charge a little more just for the hassle of finding the place and hauling the seats there.

I pretty much use FedEx exclusively, as the rates are better for me since I have an account and there is a depot about 5 minutes from my house that is easy to get to.

^I think someone would be willing to pay you $50 to ship grayhound, if the shipping charge is $40 and a two week shipping time. ;)

I'm only saying this to help out with the sale, I see its been two months.

I'll tell you what would help - you buy it, and you worry about shipping it cross-country for $40.
