FS: CD43 with Dension Ice Link

For Sale: CD43 w/ iPod connector! $250+ shipping. THIS ITEM IS SOLD!!!!

I bought this a few months back and never installed it. It was taken out of another E30 and I am told it has all the required connectors/harnesses. The previous owner PMed me with some instructions on how to set it up, I'd be willing to forward that info to the new owner.

I am under the impression that this radio works. Previous owner showed me pictures of it working in his E30.

Only problem with the radio is the volume knob is worn. I'd imagine this could be sourced from ebay or even a junk yard. The knob pops right out and could likely be replaced with something new/different.

    Here are the photos:

Thanks, I had replied to someone's interest on s14.net. They decided they didn't want it because of the volume knob.

I realize its not a mint radio, but considering it comes with the icelink i think its a decent price. You see these for 300-350 on ebay and the forums.

Either way, I'm in no rush. I'm looking to replace it with a Alpine CDA of some sort.

Alpine CDA-9889 is the one I'm looking at, but the CDA-xxxx is like a line of Alpine headunits.

here are some images sent by the individual i bought it from initially:

I have no reason to believe it doesn't work. I'm too electrically/mechanically inclined otherwise it may already be in the car. That + me giving into a more modern head unit, i never installed it.

I have the CDA-9885 with an ipod connector. the controls from the deck work well enough to where you can just wire the ipod connector into your glove box or some other hidden spot and forget about it. also, the blue lights can be switched to red to better match the BMW lights.

So basically i recommend the unit to you, although I don't know much about having insanely good sound quality and i think i remember reading somewhere that stereoinstaller is not a fan of alpine decks.

I'm not much of an audio buff. If anything I'll put in an alpine head unit, and upgrade the stock speakers. I wont go as far as to install an amp or sub. Heck I've been rolling around in the M3 with out a stereo for months now.

Its my winter project to do some interior upgrades on the M3, this includes finally getting some sort of stereo ;)

                  Thanks for the advice.

Kind of OT, but you might want to also look at the Eclipse line before you make a decision on that alpine deck...the 3200 is well-priced and you can set it to be all orange, so it matches...

                          To those who PM'd me:

Yes, installing this deck is kind of tough, but not the end of the world.

E30s are not easy anyway, so just buckle down and do it.

The E34 Touring I did up in Seattle sounded absolutely amazing, and no funny noises, hassles, etc. I used 2 aftermarket amps and it worked flawlessly.

If you hit a hassle figuring out what to do, hit me up.

Someone buy this thing, this really is a great price.

                          Luke

Here is the instructions that was sent to me by the previous owner:

                            Here's the instructions for installation.

                            1. Connect adapter (below) to existing wiring using bullet connectors, cables are labelled to make it easy.

                            stereo harness:

                            below is bullet installed:

                            2. Plug in the connected stereo into the Dension loom. This is done by sliding down the plastic outer bit, plugging the harnesses together and the push the out bit to clip it all together.

this is what it looks like connected:

                            3. Plug this connector into the dension block.

                            4. This is the back of the stereo. You need to plug in the in 2 harnesses from the other end of the loom. Do the larger block (same as you did at the other end of the loom) and then the cd harness.

                            back of stereo:

                            17 pin block:

                            CD changer block:

                            5. Connect this earth to the back of the stereo.

                            6. Plug in your ipod:

                            7. When the stereo is turned on, you will need to enter the security code 8328. Do this by using number 1,2,3,4. Once entered press the < or > button oon the stereo.

                            8. To use your ipod from the headunit you can now press the CD button to activate the CD Changer which will in turn enable the ipod. You can now press buttons 1 - 6 to access your playlists. If you press 6, then you get full access to the ipod. You can browse artists, albums, etc. but you must double press the stereo buttons in this mode for the ipod to accept the commands.

You can also press the - button to enable/disable shuffle mode.

This is just what I've learn't since i've had the system.
