You are right about the designations of the motors. The US motor is really known as the m50b30, but there is some uncertainty about what is what. That is why the title says s50b30 US. The US is the important part. I was hoping that would have cleared it up.

So the euro motors are the s50b30 and s50b32.
In the states we have the m50b30 and m50b32.

I think it is good price considering what I put into it, and thank you for the luck. I think I will need it.

        No... No... No...

The "S" designates that it's an M car engine, and the "B30" is simply the capacity. S50B30 is an S50B30 anywhere in the world. The M30B34 has a US and Euro version as well but the fact that it's called an M30B34 stays the same regardless.

You are correct. And I understand what the B is for. However there is a big difference between the Euro and the US motors. The s50b30us and s50b32us are mere built up versions of the standard m50 motors where the Euro motors are true Motorsport, built from the ground up for the m car engines. That is the point I was attempting to make.

But more importantly the point is that I have for sale a motor produced for the US market. That is why I listed it as an s50b30 US motor.

I understand that there is a difference, but that doesn't change the fact that they still carry the S50B30 designation. It's good that you specified that it's a US spec motor, thats an important detail, no problems there.

The S38B35 had a US version that was weaker than the euro version but they are both known as the S38B35. If you want to get technical it's a built up M49 block with a 24v head but the differences made is a completely different engine, hence the specific designation.

Again you are correct. I am not arguing with you at all. I was merely attempting to clarify as to what it is that I am selling. It is indeed an s50b30us. And it is in deed a completely different engine then the s50 that came in the Euro spec cars.

I believe the difference between the s38b35 in the states and the one in Europe did not have near the difference as the s50 engines.

Hey is that e28 still for sale? Want to trade?

The E28 is indeed for sale still, but I don't really have any use for this motor unfortunately. If you've got a car to trade I'd love to hear about it!

No, no car to trade. I was kind of looking for a commuter. I have a pretty nice e36 m3 I want to keep out of the East LA Interchange.
