'91 IX engine and auto trans feeler

I have a great runnnig 325 ix engine that i am starting to think about selling because i am looking into doing the s52 swap. the clock shows around 160,xxx and it has been well maintained and has good power. the car is very stock and nothing has been bastardized. i will need to keep the oil pan to morph it with one from an e36, but otherwise it is complete. still in the car and running if anyone would like to drop by and check it out. i am willing to palletize and ship. the auto trans is also good. car can be driven around the neighborhood.

I would like to get 800 for the engine and 300 for the trans.

if there is any interest, i will be happy to shoot some photos or whatever.

Refresh my memory - what's the difference between this block and a regular m20?

Are you going to keep AWD with the s52 or are you going to swap the entire suspension?

      turf,

planning to maintain the awd parts. the camber on an ix is completely different compared to a standard e30. without the front wheels pulling the car, it would handle poorly. unfortunately, the ix and a standard e30 are so different, that it would be impossible to swap suspension parts and actually have them fit. the shock towers welded to the inner fenders on the body are completely different.

there are a few swaps out there where the ix oil pan is cut into an e36 oil pan and welded together. an ix has the oil sump in the back of the engine also like an e36. unfortunately, back in those days, bmw didn't have the foresight to put the dipstick tube in the pan. so...the most important difference is that, on the ix engine, the dip stick tube is located in the back of the block instead of up front.

no, i'm not selling the cheapest m20b25 out there, but i think i remember reading on the other forum that bmw only imported about 260 ix's in 1991. considering how rare these cars actually are, it is amazing how many people on this forum and the other actually still have running cars.

btw....i see you are in houston too. where are you located?
