What is your budget?
You can either buy a used m20 for $200+ and slap it in, or buy one and then take it apart and have a shop of your choice rebuild the head and/or bottom end.
You can be easily looking at 2k+ if you do a full rebuild. There is a shop in Livermore that works on BMW engines, and a BMW Shop in Rancho sends their heads to him. I believe his name is Terry Tinney.
