      It allows you to custom tune your engine to do what ever you want it too. Better fuel economy, increased rev limiter, more hp etc...

                I can do a simple vanos circuit, that just does an on/off switch at a certain setpoint (like rpm's)

                    As long as you have some idea how to do tuning, or have a friend. You can figure it out, it's very DIY friendly

                      Would it run normally after just plugging it in or are there a lot of parameters to set to get it to work?

                        parameters must be set, its plug and play but the first bit of the play involves some computer work

                        im looking at going ms with my car, motronic isnt cuttin it anymore. im not quite ready to buy yet and im not sure if id go this direction or not, but i do have a question or 2 for you.

                        whats required for fan control/ wasted spark? i noticed they are addons

                          Fan control requires an additonal circuit that switches the ground on a relay to control the fan. Waste spark requires the additonal coil drivers needed for the 2 extra coils.

                          All the base line settings are setup, all you have to adjust are fuel and spark tables to match your particular mods etc..

                              No idea on hp gains, as there too many variables but at least as much as you'd get with a chip. And ya a chip would be pointless
