Parting out an e30 convertible - 325ic/auto - runs and drives great+no rust

Hey guys... I'm parting out an 87 325i convertible. Here are some pics. Let me know what you need. All parts are best offer so...

The car is brozitbeigemetallic with a black interior and auto trans.

PS. I am still driving the car, so you can check out the engine/trans before it gets pulled.
I am near San Jose, but I'm SF regularly so I can bring it by if you want to drive it. I'll be pulling it apart the weekend of March 20th, so if you want to try it out before let me know quick!

No...why are you parting a car that runs and drives and, from the pictures, looks like it's in tip-top shape??

            oops.

            sorry again...

The car is in pretty good shape and runs well (needs a tune and a cat, but otherwise not bad)

The car does have some issues with the dmv though... About 3 years out of registration, has a salvage title, and won't pass smog without new cat at the very least...

So, to get it on the road (legally) would be a bit over a thousand bucks...

Then it still has a salvage title, which isn't too big a deal.

It is still also an automatic, which isn't my thing.

Basically, long story short, due to a run in with a curb (Car:0,Curb:1) my E30 needs some suspension bits and those bottlecaps looked nice so I picked it up.

I would be willing to sell the car whole, but it probably wouldn't be worth it for the new owner to put it back on the road.

            Or any other suggestions?

                      OK OK!

I agree. I also would much rather have this car go to someone who will use it and look for another one for the parts I need...

So...Besides the DMV/title issues mentioned above, which may not be an issue for you out-of-staters, here is my breakdown of what the car needs to be a reliable daily driver.

                      1. Body/Paint - Body is in very good condition and as perfectly straight as a 20 year old car gets. There is one half-dollar sized ding that can probably be bumped out from behind. The paint looks very good from about 20 feet away. There are some chips here and there, but nothing major. The paint is peeling on the front bumper. The top goes up and down smoothly. The top is in very good shape, but not perfect...

                      2. Interior - The interior is very clean and all the panels are in very good shape. The rear seat bench has a good sized tear, but is still solid (stuffing/foam is still all there). The front seats are heated and work fine. They are worn and have a few cracks/tears in them. They are still comfortable and complete though... All gauges work. All accessories, except A/C work. The A/C compressor still works and it seems that it just needs a recharge (this is my best guess of course) The knob is missing from the headlight switch.

                      3. Engine/Drivetrain - The car has 202,000 miles on it. The car runs and drives great. The transmission shifts well into all the gears and reverse and I can't detect any slippage. No bad noises while driving. The car does make a minor "clunk" while going from "R" to "D" and back to "R" again (probably just u-joints?) The engine is hard to start cold, but it will start with a bit of the gas pedal. It lets out a nice little poof of blue-ish smoke on cold start up and smells like a 2-stroke right after it fires up. This all goes away after a minute or so at idle. Hot starts are no problem. My best guess is that the fuel injectors or valve guides are leaking, but again just a guess. The car will need a new radiator - IMHO. The car does not overheat, but the radiator looks like it is held together by JBweld. No leaks(yet!), but I wouldn't trust it on a daily basis.

                      4. Other - Suspension is tight. Previous owner says it was gone through about 5000 miles before car was mothballed. Very clean set of bottlecap wheels with another one in the trunk with a good tire. Tires on the car all match and have about 70% tread remaining. Jack/etc there, but tool kit empty(of course)

                      5. Driving it(the most important part!) - The car, once started!, is quick and tight. Much better than my '91 318i 5spd was before my friend hit a curb...but not as good as my '87 325is... This one has the added bonus of top down driving which I am starting to enjoy too much already If only it was a 5spd...

So. If anyone actually read all that...and is still interested in the complete car, I am looking to get $1500 for it. I am open to offers, but I already have people ready to buy about that much worth of parts once I strip it. Then I still get all the suspension bits I need and the wheels and a bunch of spares to keep my other two running...

I can bring the car pretty much anywhere in the SF bay area to show it. I would prefer it if the out-of-state people had someone local they trust to look over/take possession of the car, but we can probably work something out either way.

Here is a link to some more pictures and I can take pics of anything else you guys(and gals) want to see in more detail.
