WTB: I am in desparate need of a transmission, Binghamton NY.

My 87 IS 5 spd. is whining and moaning like no other, the transmission has a nice squeal to her in 1-4th gears, and I'm afraid that it will blow soon. Its got 230k and my DD, which i have a blast driving.

I'd hate to have to part out the car for lack of a tranny, (Although from what i see on here a glass sunroof fetches a pretty penny...) so a replacement would be ideal, as well as a fun (though daunting) task to perform.
Im hoping to track one down as soon as possible, driving it I feel the clock ticking, and I'd rather have this taken care of soon, so i can perform some well needed TLC now that the long upstate winter has passed.

Anyone selling nearby would be wonderful to hear from, shipping seems like a hell of a task, but if its possible I'm more than willing. Other than that, any information i can get -especially from someone in the area- on good yards or places to find parts would be awesome.

Shipping an E30 5 speed shouldn't cost too much- maybe $40-50 depending on distance.


Do you know Todd's Auto service in Johnson City (I think..)??

He specializes in BMW's, might be able to source one for you. Also BMWLover02750 (something like that) is from the Binghamton area- might be able to help you out too.

If you're able to pull one yourself, check Gary's U-Pull-it- They seem to have E30's the few times I've been there.

My Grandma lives in Vestal, so I try to visit her once a year or so.

Yeah i just went to Garys u-pull it, they have one 750 IL in there but that was it for the BMWs, I'll try tracking down that ship in JC you mentioned, as well as BMWlover for some local support,
