lowering springs and struts on the cheap

just aquired my first bmw (87 325is) and want to start modding it. (but typical sob story: broke college student)
it seems that Ireland Engineering stage III and H&R race springs are the popular choices.
just want something secondhand with a high spring rate. i can always cut them.
dont really care if they are pretty, just have to work. the struts i have on are pretty good, but don't know if they can hold up to harsh lowering.
is it possible to get used springs with used struts suitable for lowering for ~250?
if you have something let me know. thanks!
im in the bay area if theres anyone local.

$250 is probably a little on the low side. You should be able to find a decent setup around $400+/-

You might want to post on our local site www.baye30.net as well, might be able to save on some shipping costs?

so far i have an e36 M3 steering rack ($50) and possibly picking up lowering springs tomorow ($150) seems all i need is struts.

btw sorry for the lowballs, thought it wouldnt hurt to ask. :)

so anyone with decent struts let me know
